The Candy Factory and Warehouse D are pleased to host Scarlet Runner’s Sunday Supper. A local caterer dedicated to the preservation and integrity of local ingredients, Scarlet Runner has redefined traditional catering services by creating masterful, wholesome and uniquely distinctive dishes served to a flourishing, vibrant and celebrated community.
Drawing upon experiences within illustrious food markets such as Copenhagen, Denmark and Manhattan, New York, Chef and Owner Hilary Mace creates elegant yet approachable cuisines.
“I’ve always been drawn to art forms and found, in terms of looking towards a viable career, I could apply that interest to food. I moved from Copenhagen to New York City,” stated Hilary.
After graduating from Chelsea’s renowned Institute of Culinary Education and landing positions with high profile New York restaurants, Hilary used these experiences as a model for her own business.
“I didn’t feel like an intimate cooking experience,” continued Hilary. “Granted, it was a wonderful learning experience – working alongside teams of chefs and serving high quality foods to large audiences – but it wasn’t the route I wanted to take during my own journey.”
After relocating to Vermont and working with several Burlington eateries as well as The Inn at Shelburne Farms, a 1,400 acre non-profit environmental education center on Lake Champlain, Hilary was exposed to culinary practices and techniques which dramatically contrasted her previous education and experience.
“It put a lot of focus on ingredients. We grew our own produce and raised our own livestock. We took pride in our product. I fell in love,” said Hilary.
Hilary applied these sentiments to Lancaster.
“I felt like I was in Vermont. I met so many people and built lasting relationships with local farmers,” said Hilary.
In coordination with local farmers, Scarlet Runner creates tailored, compelling and wholesome dishes to ensure a divine and successful wedding, event, meeting or meal. Sunday Supper is an organized dining event which brings together the local community in celebration of diverse and nutritious produce and fare. There is no set menu for the event, meaning guests can try new, exciting and fresh foods.
Please join us on Sunday, September 28th at 5:30PM. Warehouse D is located at 342 North Queen Street, Rear, Lancaster PA 17603. For tickets, please visit The Scarlett Runner.
