Excentia, the area’s leading providers of care and supports for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, will be holding the first annual Unique Colors of Excentia Fun Run on October 1, 2016.

With no race winner or official timers, the Fun Run celebrates all of the wonderfully unique individuals that live in our community as well as family-friendly healthy choices for everyone.  The Fun Run will span 2 miles and both start and finish in the Barnstormer’s Clipper Stadium.  Hundreds of Lancastrians will be doused from head to toe in different colors along the race route.

Previously, Excentia hosted the Harvest 5K run at Overlook Park but runners overwhelmingly voted for a change.  That vote was unanimously for a vibrant color run.  From the start to the finish, runners and walkers will pass through color stations where powdered colors are thrown into the air and land on hair, shoulders, arms, legs- everywhere.

Excentia will be awarding prizes for the most unique participant t-shirts and is encouraging all participants to decorate and embellish their Fun Run t-shirts and check in at the LES Circle of Friends table before the race.

The Fun Run proceeds will benefit Excentia’s Life Enrichment Services.  Life Enrichment Services (LES) supports more than 400 individuals in a year-round program for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. Individuals may attend on either a full or part-time basis. Supports may include instruction in communication, socialization, cognitive education, motor skills development, daily living skills, pre-vocational training and community orientation.

A wide variety of social and recreational activities are offered in the facility at Prince Street, just across from the Clipper Stadium, and within the community at over 70 non-profits and a variety of companies throughout Lancaster County.
