The YWCA is also teaming up with one of our personal favorite restaurants here at The Candy Factory, Rachel’s Cafe & Creperie to raise money for YWCA Lancaster’s Sexual Assault Prevention & Counseling Center. This Friday Rachel’s will donate a portion of its proceeds to the organization in recognition of April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month. APRIL 30TH

Phandemic @Phantom Power

Head to Phantom Power for Phandemic! A musical showcase of 3 very cool local bands. If you have ever been downtown on a First Friday you’ll recognize Big Boy Brass, an eight-piece brass band known for their energetic New Orleans-style brass band music. Joining them is Wallace, a Philadelphia-based trio delivering poignant, lyrically driven, emotional rock and roll and The POF. The POF blends inspiration from alternative rock, funk, math rock, and EDM,  and combines technical skill and rhythmic variations with upbeat melodies and catchy guitar riffs, to produce a distinctly unique sound. For just $10 you can catch all 3 out in Phantom Power’s beer garden this Friday.

YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT: Aevidum

Aevidum is a non-profit organization that empowers youth to shatter the silence surrounding depression, suicide, and other issues facing teens. The word Aevidum, which means “I’ve got your back,” was created by students after a classmate died by suicide. Aevidum inspires schools and communities to adopt cultures of care and advocacy, encouraging all members to have their friends’ backs. Aevidum exists in elementary, middle, and high schools, as well as colleges across the nation. What started in one tiny school in Lancaster County, has now become a nationwide movement. A donation of any amount can help Aevidum and its young voices be heard. Visit their website for more information.
