The Candy Factory (342 N. Queen St, Rear, Lancaster, PA 17603) will host a community wide literary festival in celebration of the Lancaster Little Free Library, May 17 from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. With funds received from the LancHappy Project, a Fig Industries production, Katrin High and Beth Valentin’s Lancaster Little Free Library supports lifelong learning, reading and recycling.

“Little Free Libraries creates active, unique neighborhoods around the idea of sharing books and improving literacy,” says Katrina. It creates a random opportunity for play and adds a touch of whimsy to the lives of our youngest and oldest residents”.

The Candy Factory was selected as a location for the library.

“The Candy Factory is not only a perfect downtown location, it also hosts many community members and events. We are grateful for their participation and support in raising awareness about the importance of childhood literacy. The Candy Factory is a perfect fit for the Lancaster Little Free Library project,” says Beth.

The family-friendly launch event will feature readings, games, bounce house, face painting, music and food trucks. Guests are encourage to bring a book to share and take a book to enjoy!
