The Candy Factory will proudly host The People’s Clean Power Plan (PCPP) Listening Tour on June 29 from 7:00 to 9:30 p.m, 342 North Queen Street, Lancaster, PA 17603. A grassroots effort to promote and enhance Pennsylvania’s social and environmental solidarity, PCPP encourages communities to develop strategic initiatives backed by science, renewable energy and a just transition for individuals and families.
According to the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), “When folks think about climate change, what often comes to mind are melting ice caps and suffering polar bears. In the past, and to some extent still now, when people think of environmentalism, they often think of saving the whales or hugging trees! Historically, American society has failed to make the connection in terms of the direct impact of environmental injustices, including climate change, on our own lives, families, and communities, which depend on the physical environment and its bounty.”
PCPP’s Listen Tour will provide Pennsylvanians with an opportunity to help craft a Clean Power Plan that will represent their values and concerns. After the tour, leadership will craft a final proposal and distribute to President Obama, Governor Wolf, Pennsylvania legislators and Congress members.
Collaborate to create an informed plan based on these principles:
- Climate Justice and Clean Energy
- End Racism
- Workplace Democracy
- Democratize the Economy
- Participatory Democracy
- Right to Healthcare
