What Coworking mean to us:

Coworking (no hyphen please) has always meant community to me and for the past eight years I’ve been preaching the benefits. From collaboration to connections, the “co” in coworking are two powerful little letters. They stand for everything that I believe makes coworking so amazing. Many like you to think it’s the four walls you choose to call your home office away from home, but the power of real coworking is not brick and mortar, it’s the people who show up each day and how we interact. It’s how we come together to imagine, creative, thrive, connect and just be ourselves.

Our people are what makes us so unique, and the community is our greatest asset, not our space. While we work hard to provide resources like a cool inspiring place to gather and work, we make sure our focus is also on making an impact on the lives of our internal and external community. As a community hub, we work hard to offer relevant resources, access to events, and opportunities for connections to be made.

So when you’re searching for that perfect “office” or perfect “network” why not consider combining the two and do something truly amazing for yourself and your business. Consider joining a coworking community! If you take the time to engage and you’re open to the concept, I promise it will be one of the best decisions you’ve ever made.

The Candy Factory is a community of 200 + incredibly talented professionals, housed in a beautiful old warehouse in Lancaster City. Not only will you get work done, you’ll meet some truly inspiring people.

Want to see it all for yourself and meet some cool folks? Click here to schedule a tour today and we’ll be happy to introduce you to our community.

Coworking? What is Coworking?

“Coworking is redefining the way we do work. The idea is simple: that independent professionals and those with workplace flexibility work better together than they do alone. Coworking answers the question that so many face when working from home: “Why isn’t this as fun as I thought it would be?” Beyond just creating better places to work, coworking spaces are built around the idea of community-building and sustainability. Coworking spaces agree to uphold the values set forth by those who developed the concept in the first place: collaboration, community, sustainability, openness, and accessibility.”

Anne Kirby started her first design and marketing company in 1999 and currently operates a boutique agency called The Sweet Core in Lancaster, PA. After working from home for many years and feeling the effects of social isolation, she acknowledged the need for a collaborative community and started The Creative House of Lancaster in 2007. Anne then founded her thriving coworking space, The Candy Factory, in 2010. Eventually moving into a larger space in 2014, the Candy Factory now inhabits 25,000 square feet of space in the historic Lancaster Storage Company. She recently opened The Studios at The Candy Factory as well as Jelly Bellies, the region's first childcare/coworking facility combo. The Candy Factory is a coworking community of over 280 professionals and provides a professional yet relaxed work environment for people looking for creative, affordable ways to work in Lancaster County, with a focus on connecting members through internal networking, promotion, as well as social activities. She founded the PA Coworking Alliance and hosted the first PA Coworking Conference in 2018 at The Candy Factory.

Additionally, Anne facilitates an all women's meetup group called Kick-Ass Female Entrepreneurs. She speaks to organizations locally and nationally, including The House Small Business Committee in Washington D.C., on the topic of coworking, the gig economy, and cultivating community.
