Just a few weeks ago, LGH social worker Francesca McAndrews was pulling into the parking garage on North Queen Street when she saw a little pink pig darting through traffic. Francesca, a huge animal lover, immediately stopped her car and ran after the piglet, eventually diving to catch her. The piglet’s little feet were bleeding, so Francesca knew she needed medical assistance.
It is believed that the pig, named Enzo, fell off of a meat truck exiting the city. She is otherwise healthy and fine, but because of her fall, Enzo has formed a hernia which she will need surgery for. Francesca has taken on all financial responsibilities for the tiny swine and is in need of some help to pay for her surgery, food, towels, caging as she gets larger, etcetera.
On Tuesday, August 22, The Candy Factory will be holding an fundraising event called Wine & Swine in their Main Hall from 7-9PM. You must reserve a spot for the event, which is free, but you may also choose to donate money when purchasing an Eventbrite ticket, and there will also be a locally drawn comic and other goodies for sale to help raise money for Enzo the Escape Artist Piglet. Come for some (S)Wine and snacks as well!
If you would like to cover the event, please e-mail Emily Truman at The Candy Factory at emily@thesweetcore.com or Francesca McAndrews.
This event has been covered by Philly News, LancasterOnline, WGAL, WCVB, Newsteller.org, NBC Bay Area, One Green Planet, and more!
