ABOUT Charles Mingus
Charles Mingus was an American composer, bandleader, bassist and pianist, who was famous for his virtuosity, fiery personality, and brilliant contributions to music. Although contemporary musicians continue to study and play Mingus’ compositions, the depth and richness of his pieces is widely considered to be under-appreciated by those outside of the jazz community.
On October 15th, the 100th year since the birth of Charles Mingus, seven musicians will assemble at the Candy Factory to pay tribute to the maestro by performing some of his most famous works.
